Description
Manhattan is a speculative type design project imagining a custom corporate typeface for Letha Wilson, rooted in the visual heritage of American typography and the vastness of its landscapes. It draws from historical forms while exploring a contemporary voice that speaks with clarity. Its main historical reference is Howland, designed by Dickinson Type Foundry by an unknown designer in 1892. Manhattan reinterprets these typographic echoes not through nostalgia, but through a modern, digital, and simplified point of view. The result is a typeface that feels equally at home on the polished white wall of an exhibition in an unknown place, as it does amid sun-scorched mountains or towering skyscrapers.
